New Principals Named at Runkle and Lincoln Schools

Dr. Vanessa Beauchaine has accepted our offer to lead the John D. Runkle School as of July 1, 2010.  Dr. Beauchaine currently serves as Principal of Parkview Elementary School, a PK-3 building in Easton, Massachusetts, a position she has held since July, 2004.  Vanessa has also worked as a classroom teacher (3rd and 4th grade at Studley Elementary School in Attleboro), a special education teacher (at Studley, at Joshua Eaton School in Reading, Massachusetts, and at Franklin School in Newton), and a middle level teacher (6th, 7th and 8th grade at the Carroll School).

Her references tell us that she is a "smart and dedicated educator" with "a strong work ethic."  Moreover, they commented on her ability to "build strong personal relationships with all members of the school community," in fact, more than one person told us that Vanessa is someone who they would absolutely want working with their own children.

Dr. Beauchaine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Colby College, a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Boston University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration from Boston College.

We are equally excited to announce that Kristen Herbert will become Principal of the William H. Lincoln School on July 1, 2010.  Ms. Herbert currently serves as Associate Head of School (K-8) at The Rashi School, a position she has held since June, 2005.  Kristen has also served as the Mathematics Department Head and as a Mathematics Teacher at Wayland Middle School (1998-2005), as well as in various other roles at the Rashi School (K-8 Math and Science Coordinator and Teacher), Education Development Center (Mathematics Curriculum Developer) and The Childrens' Museum (Assistant Science Curriculum Developer).

Her references tell us that Kristen is an "unusually talented school administrator" who, in the words of one former employer, was "the single best hire I ever made."  She "strives for academic excellence for all students" while "recognizing the individuality of each student and respects their learning styles."

Ms. Herbert holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Oberlin College, a Master of Education Degree in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Principal Certification from Boston College (through the Massachusetts Elementary School Principals Association).
