Modern Day Real Estate

Today's modern Real Estate market is online. Three out of every four Americans rely on the Internet as a primary source of communication, research and entertainment. The National Association of Realtors said that 90% of buyers use the Internet to search for homes.
Real Estate marketing has left the newspapers and is focused on networking and online advertising. Social media and networking are changing the behavior of how we are doing business. The social media statistics are "mind-boggling". Facebook is the number one social networking site and presently gets more traffic than Google. Within the past two weeks I have received five articles on, "How to Increase My Business Using Facebook". What is interesting is that the fastest age group on Facebook are those over 55.
Instead of the Boston Globe, I can buy advertisement space on Google and Facebook. I can buy a zip code on Zillow where my name will appear. I can increase my position on Google by paying per click or bidding on keywords. The other way to increase my position on Google is to write Blogs that get a lot of hits and are responded to. Of course if my website is popular my ranking in Google becomes higher. Paying per click, keywords, blogs, and twitter were not in my vocabulary five years ago.
The websites of the near future will connect directly to the Broker's cell phone where you can talk instantly to the Broker. Some websites already have that function installed. The website of today is supposed to be a city guide leading you to anything you need. The Real Estate office is fast becoming a thing of the past.
This article came about because I spent Monday in a seminar sponsored by ActiveRain, a Real Estate Network, on Modern Day Real Estate Marketing. The methods and tools we use to do business have definitely changed, but technology will never take over our personnel approach.
